As a follow up from my work in BA2b I have collaborated with my brother to make an AK-47 out of Lego. Within the piece I am not only commenting on the use of guns as toys and a child's involvement with violence but also responding to the current situation we are in by using objects that we have within our home to make art.

This piece has been inspired by David Turner. Turner uses Lego ,as well as Hama beads, wax crayons and Plasticine, to create models of weaponry.

I think the use of Lego is very effective as it is instantly recognisable and is related to childhood. I chose to use the same template of the AK-47 as my previous works so that this piece can sit within the Build Your Own: AK-47 collection.

It is important to note that this piece is also temporary. It will be easily broken but at the same time easily repaired. If I wanted to make this piece more permanent I would have to think about gluing the bricks together or setting the piece into resin or similar.
