Build Your Own AK-47 - covering foam in fabric

I decided to use a range of colourful fabrics to cover the foam pieces. Originally I began to make these using the sewing machine as I thought this would be the most effective way. However due to the complicated shapes it turned out to be very difficult to get the cover to fit nicely and ending up looking a bit messy. (See images of green piece and pink piece) Instead I decided to hand stitch each piece, although this takes a lot longer it is actually much easier. By sewing it up around the foam piece, rather than putting it together as a cover to then fit on each piece, I have been able to stretch the fabric the right amount to get a cleaner finish.
