The next soft sculpture that I am going to make is going to be in the shape of an AK-47 style gun. I want to use this more complicated shape to see if it makes a different to the way the sculptures are viewed. It is possible that the more simple shape is responded to in a playful way because it looks less aggressive. Because of the more complex shape I am going to use applique and use a different fabric for different parts of the gun. For this reason I have put together some selections of fabric that could work together.
Pink - excessively 'girly', contrasts with the nature of a gun.
Blue - could be seen as more masculine, however the patterns and shades of blue are quite pleasant. I don't think this will have a particular effect.
Spots - Playful, however not easy to the eye. Can make you feel quite dizzy.
Floral - 'girly' and typically attractive domestic fabrics. However when put together it is extremely busy and not easy to look at. Could be successful in an excessively/too pretty way.
