As a group we decided that over the week between the workshop each of us would collect short video clips (roughly five seconds) from each day. These clips were then put together and projected onto a large piece of paper. As a group we then painted over the video, responding to the different shapes, images, colours and movements. By doing this we have produced a new abstract piece that can stand as a piece on its own as well as a collection of work with the video. We also filmed ourselves making the painting.I think this work is mainly a preformative piece however it covers multiple mediums and becomes interdisciplinary.
I think this was most successful as a preformative piece. As a painting on its own it is difficult to understand and makes little sense without the two videos accompanying it.
After this we cut the painting into five strips and each taken one to manipulate in some way. We will then fix the painting back together. This way we can bring this piece into our practice.
